The Bulgarian Parliament has decided on the military and technical assistance to Ukraine

The Bulgarian Parliament voted to mandate the government to provide assistance to Ukraine.

The debate among the MPs of the National Assembly lasted for 5 hours, BTA reports.

It was a controversial decision, but the parliamentarians voted in favor of Ukraine.

The resolution says that Bulgaria will:

• continue to support Ukraine’s EU membership aspiration;
• provide assistance to Ukrainian people fleeing the war;
• assist the export of Ukrainian grain via the Bulgarian Black Sea port of Varna;
• generally strengthen energy cooperation, in particular in the supply of electricity and natural gas;
• repair Ukrainian military equipment in Bulgarian military-industrial plants;
• continue providing humanitarian aid, especially medicines, clothing, and food supplies.

The issue of providing weapons to Ukraine is not mentioned in the resolution.

Previously, it was announced that the Ukrainian damaged military equipment will be repaired in Slovakia, as reported by Jaroslav Nad, Minister of Defense.

Konstrukta Defence, a Slovak defense industry company, has signed a respective contract with Ukraine.

The first repair batch will consist of dozens of BRDM-2 amphibious armored scout cars.
