The Chinese Ministry of Defense has stated that it does not consider Russia an ally and does not supply it with weapons
Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe said that China has never supplied weapons to Russia in its war against Ukraine.
Wei Fenghe confirmed it during a speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue security conference.
China believes that negotiations between NATO and Russia can end the war in Ukraine.
In addition, Wei Fenghe assured that China has no pacts with Russia.
“Let me clarify, as for the Ukrainian issue, China has never provided any material support to Russia,” Wei said, answering the question about China’s closer ties with Moscow.
China was under close attention because of its possible support for Russia after a joint statement in February that established “boundless” strategic relations between Moscow and Beijing, weeks before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The Minister of Defense of the PRC called the Chinese-Russian relations a partnership, not an alliance.
“This partnership is not aimed at any third country,” he said, adding that China’s relations and cooperation with Russia will “continue to grow-up.”
In addition, Fenghe added that China respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries.
Wei Fenghe repeated several times that China seeks only peace and stability and is not an aggressor.
The Chinese minister urged the United States to “strengthen solidarity and resist confrontation.”
Earlier on June 11, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that there was an “alarming” increase in the number of dangerous actions of aircraft and ships of the PRC with aircraft and ships of other countries. He added that the United States would support its allies, including Taiwan.
