The commander of the Airborne Regiment of the russian federation was neutralized in Ukraine

Ukrainian Defense Forces neutralized the commander of the 331st Guards Airborne Regiment of the russian federation, Colonel Sergei Sukharev.

Militarnyi reports about this with reference to the russian media (the article was withdrawn from the website soon after the publication).

According to Kostroma State Television and Radio Company, Colonel Serhiy Sukharev ended his career in Ukraine.

Four other russian servicemen who died during the Russo-Ukrainian war were mentioned too.

Sukharev took command of the regiment in October 2021.
Prior to that, he was the Guards Air Assault Brigade’s Deputy Commander in Ulyanovsk.

The 331st Parachute Regiment is part of the 98th Guards Airborne Division, based in Kostroma.

The regiment has been participating in hostilities against the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 2014.

In August 2014, 51 separate mechanized brigades of the Armed Forces seized two BMDs of the 331st Regiment and captured ten paratroopers. They were later exchanged for 200 Ukrainians.
