The General Staff shared the number of Belarusian military ready to fight against Ukraine
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shared how many Belarusian military personnel is ready to join the war against Ukraine on the side of the Russian invaders.
During a briefing at the Military Media Center, Brigadier General Oleksii Hromov, Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff, stated that approximately 15,000 Belarusian soldiers are ready to fight against Ukraine.
This is due to the high monetary compensation that the military can receive upon participation in hostilities.
“Approximately 10-15 thousand personnel of the security forces of the Republic of Belarus are ready to participate in the so-called special military operation of the Russian Federation. First of all, due to the appeal of a high salary,” Oleksii Hromov said.
In addition, according to the Brigadier General, over 9,000 Russian soldiers and a significant amount of military equipment are currently stationed on the territory of Belarus.
“Units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation with a total number of over 9 thousand people and more than 250 pieces of weapons and military equipment from the 2nd Motorized Rifle Division of the 1st Tank Army of the Western Military District continue being deployed as part of the deployment of a joint regional group of troops of the so-called Union State on the territory of the Republic of Belarus”, Hromov shared.
According to him, the Russians are mainly stationed in the areas of the Belarusian “Obuz-Lesnovskyi”, “Lepelskyi”, “Losvido”, and “Osypovichi” training grounds.
The Brigadier General also mentioned that at the border of the Belgorod region, Russian troops are installing mine barriers to prevent the penetration of Ukrainian subversive groups.
Amid this situation, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus Lukashenko declared that Ukraine should enter into peace negotiations with the aggressor country Russia if it wants to avoid huge casualties and complete destruction.
“Everything is in Ukraine’s hands. Not because I want to push this topic on Zelensky and Ukraine. Indeed, everything is now in the hands of Ukraine. If they don’t want the casualties – moreover, in huge numbers – of people. It is difficult and challenging, but it must be stopped, it must be stopped, because otherwise, what will follow would be the complete destruction of Ukraine… It is not that Putin claimed long before the “operation” that this would threaten the loss of statehood; it would be the destruction of Ukraine. It needs to be stopped,” Lukashenko said.
Recently, Ukraine started installing a reinforced concrete fence on the border with Belarus. The fence is being constructed on Ukrainian territory 10-15 meters away from the interstate border. The construction consists of concrete slabs.
