The 81st Airmobile Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces captured the pilot of the Su-35S aircraft, which was shot down on April 3, 2022, near Izyum in the Kharkiv region.

Militarnyi reports about it with reference to Yuriy Butusov.

The Russian pilot’s name is Sergei Yermalov. He is a major of the Russian Air Force and is stationed in the 159th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment (based at Besovets airfield, Republic of Karelia. The regiment received its first Su-35Ss in 2016).

Sergey Yermalov shared that he managed to make 15 combat sorties to the territory of Ukraine. The last combat mission of the pilot regarded the search for the Ukrainian air defense units. The aircraft he last operated was armed with an anti-radiation missile and guided bombs.

During the Russian invasion of Syria, Yermalov made 40 combat sorties.

“The Russian terrorist Yermalov had probably killed numerous civilians with his strikes on settlements in Syria and Ukraine. It is without a doubt that such non-humans should be brought before an international tribunal so that all people in the world would witness the verdict – Russia is a terrorist country, the Russian army is a weapon of looters, serial killers, rapists, there is nothing human in these criminals,” Butusov wrote.

Su-35S is a Russian multi-role fighter jet of 4 ++ generation (according to Russian classification). The manufacturer claims the aircraft uses technology inherent to the 5th generation of fighters. These regard the new avionics complex based on a digital information control system, a new phased array radar with a long range of target detection, an increased number of simultaneously observed and fired targets, new engines with increased thrust, and a controlled thrust vector.
