The Latvian government has decided to hand over Stinger MANPADS to Ukraine
The Government of Latvia has decided to hand over Stinger man-portable air-defense systems to Ukraine.

According to the Latvian LETA, the issue was considered on February 15 at a closed session of the Latvian Cabinet of Ministers.
On January 21, an official confirmation appeared that Lithuania and Latvia will provide Ukraine with an American-made Stinger MANPADS.
On February 13, plane with Stinger air defense missile systems arrived in Ukraine from Lithuania. The military transport aircraft of the Hungarian Air Force was loaded at Šiauliai Air Base in Lithuania and delivered the cargo to Ukraine by direct flight.
This assistance is provided after the U.S. government has approved the transfer of military equipment produced in the United States to a third countries.
The FIM-92 Stinger is a man-portable air-defense system (MANPADS) that operates as an infrared homing surface-to-air missile developed by the American company General Dynamics. It can be adapted to fire from a wide variety of ground vehicles and helicopters.
