A missile strike in the center of Donetsk on March 14 by the Tochka-U missile system was carried out from Russian-controlled territory.

Online media “Украинская правда” provides an analysis of the founder of the Conflict Intelligence Team, Ruslan Leviev from Nastoyaschee Vremya.

“There are many photos taken by the residents of Donetsk and the separatists, where the missile part of the Tochka-U is visible. The “missile part” is, roughly speaking, the tail of a rocket. It lays on Shevchenko Boulevard, and its position shows that its tail is oriented to the southeast, and another side is facing the northwest.

The missile part is large and heavy. Once the warhead is separated in the air, the missile part continues moving in the same direction.

The rocket arrived, apparently, from the southeast. And in the southeast along the entire distance of 120 km (Tochka-U range) is the territory controlled by russian and separatist forces. There are no Ukrainian forces there.

We are inclined to believe that, in all probability, it was a provocation,” Ruslan Leviev said.

The founder of the Conflict Intelligence Team also denied that the missile was shot down by an air defense system, contrary to what representatives of the so-called “DPR” formation said before.

The explosion video shows that the missile was equipped with cluster munitions. This fact, according to Leviev, also confirms that the rocket was not shot down in the air because the ammunition exploded after the collision with the ground.

Recent developments

On March 14, russian propaganda sources reported an alleged missile strike by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the center of Russian-occupied Donetsk.

Russian propagandists noted that the attack was carried out from the “Tochka-U” missile system. According to them, about 20 people died, and another 28 were injured.

Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the Ukrainian side did not carry out missile strikes on Donetsk.
