The Polish company will manufacture fire control systems for South Korean К9 howitzers

Polish company WB Electronics entered into an agreement with the South Korean company Hanwha Defense to supply TOPAZ automated fire control systems for K9 self-propelled howitzers.

It is reported by Defense 24.

It is noted that information about the agreement was provided to the WB Group in the form of the current ESPI report due to its presence in the capital market. The agreement was concluded on September 7, the contract value is 139.5 million US dollars.

Such an agreement was concluded as part of the planned implementation by Hanwha Defence of a contract for the supply of the K9 self-propelled howitzers for the Polish army in 2022 – 2026. WB Electronics will be a subcontractor under this contract.

The cooperation agreement came into force from the moment of its conclusion and will be valid until the end of the entire warranty period. This is 36 months since receiving the armament.

All deliveries of WB Electronics are expected to be made by the first quarter of 2026.

The Polish TOPAZ automated fire control systems will be equipped with К9А1 howitzers ordered at the first stage. In the next phase, South Korean howitzers will receive inertial navigation systems identical to those used in the Krab self-propelled guns.

It should be reminded that in July 2022, Poland signed an agreement with the Korean company Hanwha Defense to purchase up to 672 self-propelled guns K9A1 and K9PL.

The total cost of supplying these howitzers with a training, material complex and ammunition will be $2.4 billion.

The first 24 howitzers are due to be delivered from South Korea in 2022 and transferred to the 11th Artillery Regiment in Wengozhevo.
