To defeat Russian long-range artillery, Ukrainian forces used the M982 Excalibur projectile.

In the Kherson region, Ukrainian intelligence discovered a 152-mm 2S19 Msta-S self-propelled howitzer position.

The military shared that this Russian howitzer was attacking Kherson.

A reconnaissance drone was used to adjust the fire on the howitzer.

Ukrainian gunners hit the Russian Msta-S with the American M982 Excalibur high-precision artillery round.

“One less Russian Msta-S that fired at Kherson,” the military reported.

Although the video reveals that the howitzer was not completely destroyed, it is believed to have sustained significant damage and was rendered inoperable.

The Pentagon has been supplying the Ukrainian army with Excalibur high-precision guided artillery shells for a long time.

Their accuracy basically turns artillery weapons into sniper weapons. According to the manufacturer Raytheon, it will take up to 10 conventional shells to achieve the accuracy of one M982.

The M982 Excalibur is a 155-mm extended-range guided artillery shell. Its firing range depends on the artillery system. At the same time, it is crucial that these shells can be fired from any modern NATO standard artillery system.

Those include trailed American M777 howitzers, wheeled French CAESARs, and tracked German PzH 2000s. In particular, the proven range of the Excalibur from the M777 with a 39-caliber barrel is 36 kilometers. The CAESAR with a 52-caliber barrel is capable of firing at 46 kilometers, and the PzH 2000 – at 48 kilometers.
