The second OCEA boat for the Sea Guard of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine was launched in France.

The Press Service of the Sea Guard of the SBGS of Ukraine announced the launch of the second FPB 98 MKI patrol boat, which was built to protect the maritime borders of Ukraine.

The patrol boat was launched today at the OCEA site in France.

The Sea Guard expects that the vessels designed according to the French project should arrive from France to Ukraine next spring and will start guarding the maritime borders of our country.

As reported earlier, the first OCEA FPB 98 MKI boat was launched in in December last year.

At that time, the final works on installation, adjustment and preparation of the ship’s equipment was completed, the boat was preparing for mooring tests, which were to last until the end of January.

Currently, Ukrainian sea guards are mastering new modern vessels in France.

The patrol vessel has a crew complement of 13 sailors and features a maximum speed of 30 knots.

Within the scope of the deal, it was agreed that 15 of the boats to be acquired for the Ukrainian Armed Forces would be manufactured in France, and 5 would be built with the assistance of French experts at the Nibulon Shipyard in Mykolayiv.

In November 2019, an intergovernmental agreement between France and Ukraine has been signed to support the reinforcement of the maritime safety and security in Ukraine. Within the scope of the deal provides loans from the French government and European banks for the construction of French boats in the amount of 136.5 million Euros.
