The SSU detained the killers who were planning to kill Reznikov and Budanov

The Security Service of Ukraine prevented a series of contract murders of representatives of the highest military and political leadership, as well as public figures of Ukraine.

The SSU reported that as a result of a special operation, the sabotage and reconnaissance group of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation was detained.

The attackers were preparing to conduct the physical elimination of the Minister of Defense and the Head of the Defence Intelligence, along with a well-known Ukrainian activist.

For each of the murders, Russian “supervisors” promised a reward of $100 to 150 thousand.

It was established that the sabotage and reconnaissance group was staffed with the active duty personnel of the Russian military intelligence to conduct subversive activities in Ukraine.

It included a resident of the temporarily occupied city of Luhansk, who, as part of the illegal armed formations of the LPR terrorist organization, actively participated in the hostilities against the JFO forces in the east.

Following the instructions of the Moscow supervisor, he used his connections among the criminal circles to look for a hitman to commit contract murders.

A resident of Kyiv replied to his “offer.” For USD 5 thousand he agreed to kill the Ukrainian serviceman, which, according to the invaders, was allegedly involved in the physical massacre of the Russian prisoners of war.

This killing was supposed to be a “test” before completing the main tasks of the enemy.

To attempt the murder of the Heads of Defense Departments, the “contact” decided to arrive in the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities personally. Here, together with an accomplice, they had to prepare a plan for “liquidation” and submit it for approval to their supervisors in the Russian Federation.

The attacker was masking the routes of movement. Thus he had entered Ukraine through the territory of Belarus.

SSU officers had recorded his arrival in the Volyn region through the Domanovo checkpoint and his meeting with an accomplice.

To prevent the especially serious crimes, counterintelligence officers of the Security Service, with the involvement of Special Group “Alpha” operators, detained both attackers in Kovel.

During the search, the evidence of criminal actions, as well as the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, were found by the “contact”.

Currently, both detainees have received notice of suspicion of treason committed under martial law and intentional murder. The preventative measure in the form of keeping in custody is now being decided.

“The enemy cannot win on the battlefield, so he resorts to the usual methods – he is trying to organize attempts to murder the military and Heads of Ukrainian authorities. And this once again proves to the whole world that Russia is a terrorist state that does not adhere to any civilized rules. However, we are well aware of what we should expect from the Russian Federation, so we act ahead and neutralize the enemy’s special operation in advance. We will continue doing this!” said Vasyl Malyuk, Acting Head of the Security Service of Ukraine.

Comprehensive measures are ongoing to bring the Russian coordinators of subversion, who are currently hiding in the Russian Federation, to justice.
