The United States Marine Corps has ordered multiple ACV-30 Production Representative Test Vehicles.

BAE Systems announced the deal.

The cost of the contract to build multiple ACV-30 Production Representative Test Vehicles is $88 million.

This batch of PRTVs is purchased for testing under the military program.

Once delivered to the U.S. Marine Corps, the PRTVs will undergo a period of testing prior to a full-rate production decision and further orders of these wheeled armored vehicles.

The ACV-30 is equipped with a 30mm RT-20 Remote Turret System manufactured by KONGSBERG.

The remote turret eliminates the space requirement of legacy lethality systems. It provides more space to transport troops or mission essential equipment, and reduces weight for better mobility. The ACV-30 is one of four variants in the ACV family of vehicles.

Amphibious Combat Vehicles

The ACV creation program is a further development of the Marine Personnel Carrier (MPC) program for the acquisition for the U.S. Marine Corps of a new type of wheeled armored personnel carriers with the 8×8 formula, which was suspended in 2013 and restored as an amphibious combat vehicle in 2014.

At the first stage of the program, it is planned to purchase 203 combat vehicles for a total amount of $ 1.2 billion.

In the second phase, various modifications of this combat vehicle, including fire support vehicles, up to a total of 700 units are to be procured.

The ACV amphibious combat vehicle from BAE Systems was produced on the basis of the Italian Iveco SuperAV armored personnel carrier. It has the ability to swim. Compared to AAVs, the new ACV vehicle should provide superior maneuverability and mobility, with protection similar to that of a mine-resistant ambush protected (MRAP).

The ACV is designed to provide Marines with a broad range of capabilities to meet additional challenges and utilize future technologies through a modular design. The combat vehicle has a six-cylinder engine with a capacity of 690 horsepower.
