The U.S. Senate approved the bill on the U.S. government temporary funding. It contains a very important point for Ukraine: the document provides for over $12 billion of financial assistance for our country.

European Pravda reports about this.

72 senators voted on the bill, and another 23 American lawmakers voted against it.

According to The Hill, the aid for Ukraine will amount to $12.4 billion.

Now, the bill must be voted on in the U.S. House of Representatives before it will be presented to President Joe Biden for signature.

The bill, known as a continuing resolution, is supposed to prevent a so-called shutdown – a forced closing of state institutions that could have begun this coming Saturday.

Among other things, this draft law includes an assistance package for Ukraine to fight against the full-scale Russian invasion.

The total amount of assistance is $12.4 billion. The bill also earmarks $3 billion for military assistance, including training, equipment, weapons, and logistical support.

Another $1.5 billion would be allocated to replenish stocks of American equipment provided to Ukraine or foreign countries that have sent their weapons to the Ukrainian army.

Another $2.8 billion are planned for continued military, intelligence, and other defense support of Ukraine. The increase in the production of ammunition will be financed by $540 million. The largest amount from this support tranche is directed by the United States to the Ukrainian economy – namely $4.5 billion.

Earlier this month, U.S. President Joe Biden asked Congress to provide $11.7 billion in the new emergency military and economic aid for Ukraine.

The White House believes that these funds are necessary to maintain the pace of aid to Ukraine during the first three months of the new fiscal year, which begins on October 1.
