The UK will virtually double its military support to Ukraine with an additional £1 billion (over $1.2 billion).

Bloomberg reports about this with reference to the British government.

New assistance will be applied to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine move beyond defense against Russia’s invasion to mounting offensive operations.

The uplift in funding will be announced by Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom at the NATO summit in Madrid on Thursday, June 30.

The funding will be allocated for Ukraine’s defense capabilities, including air defense systems, uncrewed aerial vehicles, electronic warfare equipment, and thousands of vital kit units for Ukrainian soldiers.

This brings the total UK military support since the outbreak of the war to £2.3 billion ($2.8 billion), which, according to the British government, is more than any country other than the US.

The Office of the British Prime Minister stated that the additional equipment is the first step in enabling Ukraine to move toward the offensive.

Previously, the United Kingdom announced a major training program for the Ukrainian forces.

The military support is an addition to the £1.5 billion of humanitarian and economic support provided to Ukraine since February.

The United Kingdom and Norway are cooperating to provide Ukraine with long-range multiple rocket launchers (MLRS). This regards the M270 multiple launch rocket launchers.

As previously reported, Britain had purchased and repaired over 20 Belgian M109 self-propelled howitzers.

In addition, HUSKY Tactical Support Vehicle armored vehicles from Great Britain started to arrive in Ukraine.
