The Ukrainian military destroyed a Russian Su-24 bomber jet in the Bakhmut area
The Ukrainian military destroyed a Russian Su-24 bomber jet near the city of Bakhmut.
A video featuring the destroyed aircraft was published on social media.
The video shows an explosion that follows the aircraft crashing. The bomber jet was shot down by the soldiers of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade “Kholodnyi Yar.”
It is also clear that at least one of the pilots managed to eject. In the footage, he is seen parachuting down near the crash site of the Su-24.
The Russian Telegram channels report that the bomber belonged to Wagner PMC.
There is also a video featuring the Ukrainian military observing the aircraft through the Kropyva combat control system. The aircraft flew near Bakhmut and disappeared.
The mercenaries of Wagner PMC use Su-24 bomber jets in the Bakhmut area. In mid-February, the Ukrainian military damaged another Su-24 used by mercenaries of a so-called private military company.
At that time, the MANPADS crew of the 3rd Brigade of Operational Assignment of the National Guard of Ukraine, also known as the Spartan Brigade, hit the aircraft with the Piorun system. The missile hit the tail of the aircraft, but the Russian pilot managed to land the bomber.
However, due to the damage, it is out of action and will not be able to participate in combat operations until it is restored.
