In September, the United States plans to announce an assistance package for Ukraine for 2024.

Kurt Volker, former US Special Representative for Ukraine, announced this during a briefing in Odesa.

The conversation with the local authorities, residents of Odesa, and representatives of the elite lasted about 30 minutes.

The aid package is planned to be agreed before the presidential elections in the United States.

“In the fall, we will allocate another aid package that will support Ukraine throughout 2024. Now we are discussing this $60 billion aid package, which I think will be allocated in September,” Volker said.

Also, the former US Special Representative for Ukraine added that the US has enough funds to support Ukraine’s counteroffensive, which should start this year.

Previously, Volker mentioned that the funds that will be used to rebuild Ukraine should go to a specially established investment fund. Also, in his opinion, it is necessary to create a special executive body that will regulate the process of restoration of Ukraine.

According to experts, the process of post-war reconstruction of Ukraine should be completed by June 2026.

According to Volker, Ukraine will definitely be a member of NATO because this issue has already been de jure decided, and all that remains is to sign the documents.

He emphasized that Ukraine’s accession to NATO will strengthen the security of Europe, considering the equipment and training of the Ukrainian military.

At the same time, he expects that important messages for Vladimir Putin will be heard at the NATO summer summit. If he doesn’t respond or doesn’t respond adequately, NATO has the next steps and plans.

Answering the question of whether Ukraine could be accepted into NATO before the end of the war, Volker did not rule out such a possibility, citing the example of Germany, which at the time of joining NATO was partially under the rule of the Soviet Union. At the same time, he believes that in case of joining NATO, Ukraine will have the right to liberate its territories in the future.
