The US shot down an Iranian-made drone near a military base in Syria
The US military shot down a drone, presumably an Iranian-made, on the territory of Syria.
This UAV was conducting reconnaissance in the area of a US military base.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported this.
“On February 14th, at approximately 2:30 PM local time, US forces in Syria engaged and shot down an Iranian-manufactured UAV attempting to conduct reconnaissance of Mission Support Site Conoco, a patrol base in northeast Syria,” the statement said.
The announcement also includes two pictures capturing the drone and the moment of its explosion.
The CENTCOM statement provided no other details about the incident.
As previously reported, Iran could hand over the new Shahed-191 and Shahed-129 combat UAVs to Russia.
According to The Guardian, at least 18 drones were handed over to Russia following a visit by the Russian military and technical experts to Tehran in November 2022.
During this trip, representatives of the Russian Federation selected six Mohajer-6 drones that were already spotted in Ukraine. The list also includes 12 Shahed-191 and Shahed-129 drones. The latter has not yet been recorded in hostilities against Ukraine.
