The USA is preparing a large military aid package for Ukraine

On Tuesday, the United States is to announce the allocation of a new military aid package to Ukraine to strengthen air defense.

The value of this assistance amounts to $1.2 billion. This defense aid is designed to meet Ukraine’s long-term defense needs.

Associated Press reported on this with reference to the US officials.

The new assistance package will be provided under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.

It should be noted that USAI is an initiative through which the US purchases new weapons and equipment from the industry, as opposed to supplying them from the Pentagon’s stockpiles.

According to US officials, the new aid package to Ukraine will finance HAWK air defense systems, air defense system ammunition, and drones for air defense.

It is emphasized that the decision comes as the Armed Forces of Ukraine prepare to launch an offensive against Russian invasion forces, and due to the constant need for air defense equipment, as Russia continues attacking with kamikaze drones and missiles of various types.

Ukraine will also receive artillery, missiles, satellite imagery assistance, and funding for ongoing maintenance and spare parts for a variety of systems as part of this aid package.

Including this package, the U.S. has provided Ukraine with nearly $37 billion in military aid since Russia invaded in February 2022.

As previously reported, the last package of US military aid to Kyiv was announced on May 3. Its value is $300 million. The aid was allocated by the Decree of the US President from the U.S. Department of Defense warehouses.

It included ammunition for HIMARS, infantry weapons, additional howitzers, trucks and trailers, artillery and mortar rounds, anti-armor weapon systems, and other equipment.

Additionally, Ukrainian gunners are mastering American M109A6 Paladin self-propelled howitzers.
