Two groups of Ukrainian pilots are already honing their skills on F-16s
Several groups of Ukrainian pilots have advanced their F-16 training in allied countries.
Ilia Yevlash, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, reported on this.
According to Yevlash, two advanced groups are currently in Denmark and the United States, where they are honing their skills on F-16s.
Another group is continuing its training and has moved from the UK to France, where it is learning about light aircraft.
One more group is undergoing ground training in England: in particular, they are learning the language, which is one of the priority areas.
“The planes are foreign-made, so proper knowledge of the English language is necessary,” the speaker explained.
In addition to pilots, the training of technical personnel continues, so that in the future, these specialists will already train their colleagues in Ukraine.
As early as 2023, France, which does not have these fighter jets, said it could help Ukraine with training.
The French Air and Space Force provides Ukrainian pilots with basic training, and then sends them to other countries for special training for the F-16 fighter jet.
Previously, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis approved the training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets at a training center in Romania.
The media reported that twelve Ukrainian pilots were expected to be ready for combat missions on F-16s by this summer after 10 months of training in Denmark, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
As previously reported, Belgium will allocate €100 million for the maintenance of Ukraine’s F-16 fighter jet fleet. The Dutch government will purchase aviation weapons for F-16 fighter jets, which will soon be transferred to Ukraine.
