UK Special Forces Ready to Join Peacekeeping Mission in Ukraine
British special forces are preparing to take part in peacekeeping operations in Ukraine, according to The i Paper, which cites anonymous sources within the UK Ministry of Defence.
According to the newspaper, as part of planning efforts for a potential peacekeeping mission, UK special forces units have reportedly been ordered to mobilize.
The process started last week, amid preparations for a possible peace agreement, which the publication suggests could be reached soon.
In addition to active-duty special forces, the order also applies to reservists, placing them in a state of readiness. Personnel are expected to ensure the operational availability of military equipment until an official deployment notice is issued.

This decision comes as the UK government seeks to lead a future peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine, potentially forming the core of the mission.
On March 15, 2025, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that planning for peacekeeping deployment in Ukraine had entered its “operational phase.”
While UK Special Forces are not a conventional military unit with large-scale weapons and equipment, they have the capability to rapidly deploy worldwide.

In addition to the ground component, the UK government is considering the use of aircraft to patrol Ukrainian airspace and maintain aerial security.
Militarnyi previously reported that the UK was evaluating the possibility of deploying Typhoon fighter jets to Ukraine for air patrol missions.
A potential mission could resemble the Baltic Air Policing operation, in which NATO forces monitor and intercept Russian aircraft near Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
If approved, about a dozen Typhoon fighter jets could provide round-the-clock air defense readiness alongside UK and European peacekeeping forces in Ukraine.
