President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expects that at the online meeting of Defense Ministers of over 40 countries, a decision to transfer multiple rocket launchers to Ukraine will be made.

The President of Ukraine stated this at a joint briefing with António Costa, Prime Minister of Portugal in Kyiv.

“Such meetings are themselves a positive outcome. We expect a positive decision on MLRS (multiple rocket launcher – ed.) supply. I have no secrets. We call on all countries to supply MLRS systems, thanks to which Ukraine will be able to take the initiative and liberate its territory,” he said.

He addressed the representatives of the countries that fear providing Ukraine with the respective weapons, allegedly because they could be used to attack the Russian Federation.

Zelensky reminded that Ukrainians are waging war on their territory.

“If some European countries have gotten used to the fact that Donbas is the Russia-occupied territory, I want to say that it is not a very good habit. This is our territory,” stressed the President of Ukraine.

Zelensky also stated that the Russian Federation was blackmailing the countries of the world at various levels because of MLRS supply to Ukraine.

“You don’t have to be afraid – you have to unite. Unification is exactly what the Russian Federation fears. It is afraid of a strong union, it fears that the European Union and the United States will act as one body. This is very important for us. We really need substantive assistance,” the President stressed.

As previously reported, representatives of over 40 countries will participate in the online meeting on Monday, May 23, to discuss further defense support for Ukraine.

Previously, the United States established a logistics control center in Stuttgart, Germany, which manages a network of over 40 partner and allied countries that participated in a meeting at the American Ramstein base in Germany and provided defense assistance to Ukraine.

It was recently reported that the United States has not yet agreed to provide Ukraine with long-range MLRS 270 multiple rocket launchers.
