Ukraine is building helipads near the border with Belarus

Near the border with Belarus, Ukraine continues the engineering arrangement of the border.

Due to the provoked migration crisis on the border of Belarus and EU countries, Ukraine significantly intensified the arrangement of the northern section of the border.

About three dozen engineering groups of border guards have been constantly working on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, since the beginning of November.

They install various entanglement – concertina wire, netting and making portable barriers.

Also, engineering teams are working on the arrangement of helipads to ensure the prompt transfer of reserves in case of a sharp change in the situation on a certain site.

Engineering preparations

Since the beginning of the provoked migration crisis in the neighboring country, about 4,630 baled of concertina wire have already been involved in arranging the border of Ukraine.

A significant part of them provided local authorities.

To this end, the Main Training Center of the State Border Guard Service in Cherkasy Region has deployed its own production, which allows to produce concertina wire and mesh.

Currently, three production lines are constantly operating at these capacities. Already today, border guards are able to independently produce daily barriers that will allow to equip a section of the border with a length of up to three kilometers.

It should be noted that according to the Government’s Order “On Allocation of Funds for the Implementation of Measures Related to Strengthening the State Defense Capability” the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine allocated UAH 21 million.

At present, almost 300 tons of materials have been purchased, which will allow to produce barriers for the engineering countermeasures of about 62 km of the Ukrainian-Belarusian border section.
