Ukraine presents brake parachute systems for combat aircraft in Riyadh
At the World Defence Show 2024, the Ukrainian defense industry presented brake parachute systems for combat aircraft.
The “Aviation Systems of Ukraine” company demonstrated its products at the international exhibition in Saudi Arabia, taking place in Riyadh.
International potential customers are primarily shown parachute systems for the MiG-29 fighter jet and Su-27 and Su-30 aircraft.
The Ukrainian company has developed a PTK-29SK-M1 brake parachute system for the MiG-29.
This system provides braking of the aircraft during landing and is activated at a speed of at least 180 km/h and no more than 310 km/h.
PTK-29SK-M1:
- The maximum operating load does not exceed Rmax 61656 H (6285 Krc).
- The designated service life of the parachute system is 30 uses. The service life of the parachute system is 8 years.
- The weight of the parachute system is not more than 8 kg.
- Overall dimensions of the parachute system in the folded state: diameter 0.17 m2; height 0.7 m.
- The parachute system is made of high-modulus para-aramid fibers using modern Ukrainian and foreign production materials.
- The time for laying the parachute system using a press is no more than 10 minutes, manually – no more than 20 minutes.
The pilot activates the parachute system after touching the runway.
In turn, a PTK-10SK-M1 parachute system was developed for Su-27 and Su-30.
It can also operate at a speed of at least 180 km/h and no more than 300 km/h.
The Ukrainian manufacturer also offers parachute systems for other combat aircraft, drones, and special cargo parachutes for dropping military supplies.
In 2021, the Ukrainian Air Force tested the company’s brake parachute systems for Su-27 and MiG-29 aircraft.
In May 2019, Militarnyi reported that the “Aviation Systems of Ukraine” scientific and production enterprise had established the production of brake parachutes for combat aviation.
