The Ukrainian military received two more Canadian Gurkha armored vehicles, designed to evacuate the wounded.

On December 19, the press service of the Medical Procurement of Ukraine state enterprise reported on receiving the vehicles.

These are the last of 13 armored vehicles in the armored ambulance version, ordered for funds raised through the fundraising platform United24.

These tactical armored vehicles are specially manufactured for the Ukrainian order in Canada by Terradyne Armored Vehicles Inc. of Ontario.

The total cost of all 13 armored vehicles for the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is UAH 124 million. The funds were raised in December 2022.

Armored vehicles are designed to evacuate the wounded from the front line to the nearest medical facility. The level of protection of the vehicle complies with the STANAG 4569 Level II standard.

The order for this armored vehicle for evacuation of the wounded was placed by the Medical Procurement of Ukraine state enterprise.

Ukrainian military medics received their first Gurkha armored vehicle for rescuing the wounded in mid-October. They have high navigation ability and can drive on war-torn field roads.

Gurkha

The Gurkha family of vehicles is designed for operation in military and police units. The vehicle is available in three different versions, each of which is based on the Ford F-550 Super Duty wheeled chassis.

The Gurkha MPV (Mine Protected Vehicle) minimizes the effects on the internal compartment from a mine explosion under the bottom.

The front wings and hood are attached to the chassis rather than directly to the hull, thereby reducing the shockwave energy transmitted to the crew seat and soldiers in the event of an explosion.

The bottom of the vehicle is additionally protected by a plate that absorbs a significant fraction of the explosion energy. The plate has its own attachment system, which allows it to cover the entire squad compartment.
