The United States has handed over GCS-100 demining vehicles and specialized equipment to the State Special Transport Service of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine stated that the United States handed over 4 GCS100 vehicles with sets of mounted equipment.

In total, the transferred equipment included 4 GCS 100 vehicles, 4 GCS 100 trailers, 4 mobile technical stations for GCS 100, and 5 JCB excavators with armored cabins.

Among the vehicles, 4 MAN trucks, 4 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter cargo and passenger vans and spare parts were donated.

The Tramsport Service also received a set of personal protective equipment for sappers who will work on demining machines.

The total cost of the equipment purchased is over $5.8 million.

Some of the equipment purchased by the partners was made in Ukraine. This is part of the Ministry of Economy’s efforts under the Made in Ukraine Initiative.

The equipment was purchased by the American company Tetra Tech, the implementer of an international technical assistance project for Ukraine funded by the governments of the United States and Canada.

The GCS100 is a versatile, compact, and easy-to-use platform designed to defuse explosive ordnance.

The robotic arm’s capabilities include gripping/lifting heavy objects weighing up to 400 kilograms.

In June, the U.S. government handed over a new aid package to Ukrainian demining units with a GCS-200 demining vehicle.
