Ukraine’s Air Defense Intercepts 71 Shahed UAVs in Russia’s Overnight Attack

The Russians launched a record amount of Shahed loitering munitions at Ukraine on the night of November 25.

Kyiv was the main direction of the invaders’ attack.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.

In total, about 75 Shahed drones were launched from two directions.

Drones were launched from the Primorsko-Akhtarsk district of Krasnodar Krai and the Kursk Oblast of the Russian Federation.

Ukrainian air defense operated in at least six regions of Ukraine: Kyiv, Sumy, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kirovohrad.

Anti-aircraft missile troops, tactical aviation, mobile AA teams, and electronic warfare units were involved in repelling the Russian air attack.

As a result of this night, the anti-aircraft missile troops of the Air Force, in cooperation with the air defense of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, destroyed 71 Shahed-131/136 UAVs. The vast majority of Russian drones were shot down in the Kyiv region.

The air alert throughout the capital and region ended at 8:46 a.m., the risk had been present for more than 6 hours. Russian drone debris landed in various Kyiv neighborhoods. In the kindergarten, there was a fire.

According to Serhii Popko, Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, the downing of enemy UAVs in the Solomianskyi area caused damage to glass in several residences.

The debris of a drone landed during a night strike in Kyiv’s Pechersk and Solomianskyi districts, according to Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko. The assault harmed five persons. The oldest is 65 years old, while the youngest is 11 years old. Three of these five injured had severe stress responses. Two additional incised limb wounds. They all received prompt medical attention.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukrainian air defense destroyed the Russian Kh-59 guided aviation missile.
