The Ukrainian Air Force destroyed a Russian reconnaissance drone on Sunday, August 21.

The Ukrainian forces used the Buk-M1 air defense system to neutralize the enemy’s air target.

The video featuring the combat operation of the air defense system was released by the Air Force Command of Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The servicemen informed that soldiers of the anti-aircraft missile unit of the Air Command “Central” destroyed this enemy drone in the southeast direction.

The released footage showcases the launch of the 9K37M1 “Buk-M1” missile system of the Ukrainian military.

A few seconds after the launch, the air target was hit due to the missile’s warhead detonation directly near the object in the sky.

The enemy drone was flying at a relatively low altitude.

The Buk SAM is a medium range multifunctional high-mobility anti-aircraft missile system.

It is designed to destroy strategic and tactical aircraft, cruise missiles, helicopters, and other air targets (depending on the modification).

The anti-aircraft missile system can be used for air defense of troops, military facilities, and important administrative-industrial and other territories (centers) in case of a massive air attack, and can also be a module of tactical level missile defense.

As previously reported, Ukraine’s air defenses hit several Russian reconnaissance drones.
