Ukraine’s Security Service confirms identity of soldier killed by Russians after saying “Glory to Ukraine!”

The Security Service of Ukraine finally confirmed the identity of the Ukrainian military, whom the Russians shot after the words “Glory to Ukraine!”

According to the SSU, the Ukrainian military, who was shot after the words “Glory to Ukraine!,” was Matsiievskyi Oleksandr Ihorovich, sniper of the 163rd Battalion, 119th Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces, Chernihiv region.

Finally, it was possible to confirm the data about the serviceman after a set of investigative actions, which included communication with the relatives and brothers of the deceased, as well as the processing of photo and video materials.

In addition, the SSU received a forensic portrait examination, which confirmed that the soldier on the video is Oleksandr Matsiievskyi.

“This is a real Hero, who, even looking into the face of death, demonstrated to the whole world what Ukrainian character and invincibility are. It is such defenders today who defend our land, which means that the enemy will definitely be defeated. Because the Great Victory of Ukraine consists of the heroic actions of such people as Oleksandr Matsiievskyi. Glory to the hero! Glory to the heroes! Glory to Ukraine!,” – said Vasyl Malyuk, Head of the SSU.

The Head of the Security Service added that the secret service is working to identify the invaders who committed this war crime.

“We will do everything to ensure that these inhumans receive the punishment they deserve,” Vasyl Malyuk emphasized.

Oleksandr Matsiievskyi was called up for military service in March 2022. Since the end of December, he has been considered missing near the village of Krasna Hora in the Donetsk region.

As the SSU managed to establish, Oleksandr Matsiievskyi was shot on December 30, 2022. His body was returned to his home in February 2023.

“At the moment, the SSU is taking comprehensive measures to identify the servicemen of Russia who committed this war crime,” the SSU noted.

Pre-trial investigation is carried out under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war). Events are held under the procedural leadership of the Office of the Attorney General.

On March 6, a video showing how the invaders shot an unarmed man in the uniform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the trench began to spread in social networks. Before his death, he tightens his cigarette, calmly says: “Glory to Ukraine!,” after which he dies under fire from automatic weapons.
