The Ukroboronprom State Concern has signed contracts for the purchase of artillery ammunition.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukroboronprom State Concern.

According to the contract terms Ukraine will purchase tens of thousands of ammunition.

The Сoncern also now imports weapons and military equipment.

“Ukroboronprom is working daily to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities. In addition to production and restoration of weapons and military equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, our main task, the Concern also imports weapons,” the statement reads.

It is likely that the statement regards the 152-mm or 155-mm ammunition used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Having 155-mm artillery systems supplied to Ukraine, the servicemen continue to need 152-mm ammunition for Soviet-era artillery systems.

In particular, those are needed for the DANA 152-mm wheeled self-propelled howitzers, which Ukraine receives.

155-mm ammunition in Ukraine is used for M777 towed howitzers, M109 self-propelled howitzers, Polish AHS KRAB, French CAESAR ACS, and Slovak Zuzana 2, which Ukraine is about to receive.

In May, it became known that Canada will purchase and send Ukraine 20,000 155mm caliber shells.

These shells are of NATO standard artillery caliber compatible with artillery guns provided to Ukraine by Canada and other countries.

South Korea is considering exporting 155-mm shells to Canada to replace the ones shipped to Ukraine.
