European Union countries will transfer 100 additional missiles to the Ukrainian air defense Patriot air defense system.

The announcement published on the website of the President of Ukraine reads that the missiles will be transferred by Germany along with Denmark, Norway, and the Netherlands.

This was announced by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on June 11 in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Germany and the entire German people for a new defense package totaling more than €700 million.

He noted the transfer by Germany of another Patriot system, and German IRIS-T systems.

The German defense minister announced that the new package included reconnaissance and strike drones, small and sniper weapons, RPGs and missiles to the Patriot.

“Using these missiles, the Ukrainian military, which is now training here, will soon be able to protect the infrastructure and save the lives of Ukrainians,” the minister said.

Pistorius noted that 32 of these missiles have already been transferred in the past two days, and the remaining 68 will be provided in the coming weeks

The President of Ukraine was updated on the ongoing training sessions for the Patriot air defense system in Zanits, where Ukrainian personnel are being prepared for operational roles.

“Previously, they worked on Soviet-made air defense systems, but they learned very quickly. And, very importantly, they have the experience of war and exchange it with their German colleagues, teaching each other,” Zelensky said.

Recall that in May, it was reported that the United States also plans to transfer to Ukraine an additional Patriot anti-aircraft missile system.

The Patriot anti-aircraft missile system is more desirable for Ukraine, since it has a large range of missiles for intercepting air and ballistic targets.
