Ukrainian air defense shot down an enemy drone “Kartograf,” which has a camera with 12 lenses
Ukrainian air defense shot down a Russian reconnaissance drone in the Mykolaiv region.
The defeat of the enemy drone was reported by the press service of the Air Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Anti-aircraft gunners neutralized the Russian classified drone, which received the unofficial name “Kartograf.”
The drone was shot down today at around 9 a.m. in southern Ukraine.
The military notes that the invasion forces of the Russian Federation are trying to conduct aerial reconnaissance of the south of our country almost every day.
In their attempts, the invaders actively use UAVs of various modifications.
“On September 02, at about 09.00 a.m. the Russian “Kartograf” drone was eliminated in the sky over Mykolaiv by the anti-aircraft missile unit of the Air Force. The drone is part of the Ptero family of multipurpose unmanned systems,” emphasized the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Photos show the hull of a drone with a camera that has 12 lenses. Such cameras are a characteristic feature of these Russian reconnaissance drones.
This drone is often confused with another Russian Orlan-10 reconnaissance drone.
Externally, the Kartograf UAV is immensely similar to the Orlan family of aircraft, but has a number of differences.
The drone is designed for panoramic aerial and video shooting with the ability to transmit the collected information to the control point in real time.
It can be used for reconnaissance in order to adjust artillery fire or missile strikes.
