Ukrainian Defense Forces score hit on Russian Buk-M1 air defense system

The defense forces destroyed the Russian Buk-M1-2 SAM system 9A310M1-2 TELAR in the Donetsk region.

This was reported by the Ukraine Weapons Tracker analytical team.

The Ukrainian military managed to destroy the 9A310M1-2 transporter erector launcher and radar (TELAR) of the Buk anti-aircraft system. It is stated that a successful strike was inflicted with a UAV.

It is reported that the system was hit near the village of Panteleimonivka, Donetsk region.

The Ukraine Weapons Tracker analytical team was able to identify the TELAR of this SAM on video thanks to the specific structures at the top of the hull.

Earlier, on April 10, a video from the same location appeared on the web, on which a specific column of flame and white smoke from the burning of a large amount of rocket fuel was recorded.

The author of the video also stated that the video shows the burning of the Russian Buk-M1 hit by a drone.

The Buk-M1 air defense system’s TELARs are important targets, since they form the basis of the air defense of ground troops, which protects them from enemy tactical aircraft.

The last time an anti-aircraft system of this kind was destroyed by the Ukrainian armed forces was in March 2023 on the territory of the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region.

The Buk air defense system is a Soviet medium-range anti-aircraft missile system. It is designed to destroy strategic and tactical aircraft, cruise missiles, helicopters, and other air facilities.

Anti-aircraft missile system can be used for air defense of troops, military facilities, important administrative-industrial and other territories (centers) in the massive use of air attack equipment.

The Buk-M1-2 SAM is capable of hitting targets such as F-15 fighters at a distance of up to 50 km, and cruise missiles at ranges of up to 26 km. The maximum speed of targets that the system can hit is 1100 m/s towards and 300-400 m/s of the race.

The 9А310М1-2 TELAR of the Бук-М1-2 SAM is fully autonomous and capable of moving, reconnoitering targets in airspace, and launching missiles regardless of other units of the system.

Full autonomy and the ability to fire without associated radar stations are ensured thanks to the installation of its own radar on board.

The time of transfer of the machine from a derivative position to a combat position is slightly more than 5 minutes. Switching to combat mode from duty – no more than 20 seconds. Reloading with missiles is carried out in 12 minutes.
