The Armed Forces of Ukraine hit a radar and a launcher of the S-300V air defense system.

This was reported by the press service of the Come Back Alive Foundation.

The Shadow unit detected a Russian air defense position due to the Shark UAV provided by the benefactors.

After that, they launched a combined strike using HIMARS and a kamikaze drone at the identified coordinates.

The radar was hit by two GMLRS missiles, and the launcher was destroyed by an unknown kamikaze UAV.

In total, since the beginning of the Russian invasion, the Oryx project has reliably documented the loss of six Russian launchers and three radars of the S-300V SAM of various modifications.

S-300V SAM

The S-300V is a Soviet air and missile defense system. It is designed to defend groups of troops and the most important front and rear targets from massive attacks by ballistic and cruise missiles, strategic and tactical aircraft.

Joint tests of the system were conducted at the Embensk test site of the Soviet Defense Ministry’s Main Missile and Artillery Directorate in 1985-1986. The S-300V was adopted by Soviet Air Defense Troops of the Ground Forces in 1988 with a full set of combat equipment.

The S-300V frontline anti-aircraft missile brigades were intended to replace the anti-aircraft missile brigades of the 2K11 Krug air defense system.

After being put into service in 1983, the system was repeatedly modernized. According to the Russians, the most modern version of the S-300V4 system is capable of intercepting aerodynamic targets at a distance of up to 400 km and ballistic targets at a distance of up to 40 km, with a maximum kill height of 30 km.

In July 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a missile strike on a Russian military base near Dzhankoy in the temporarily occupied Crimea. The target was the invaders’ S-300V air defense system.

The strike was carried out on the military base located in the village of Novostepove, by ATACMS ballistic missiles in the morning of July 21, 2024.
