Ukrainian forces shot down over 60 missiles – Air Force Command

The Air Force Command announced the results of air defense during a massive attack on the territory of Ukraine on December 5.

The Command representatives noted that the Ukrainian military managed to destroy more than 60 targets out of more than 70 missiles fired.

This is stated in the message of the Ukrainian Air Force.

According to preliminary information, the Russians launched 38 Kh-101/Х-555 cruise missiles carried by eight Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers. Launches occurred from the Caspian Sea and Volgodonsk city, Rostov Region.

The Russians also fired 22 Kalibr cruise missiles from the ships in the Black Sea Fleet.

In addition, Ukraine was attacked from the Black Sea by Tu-22М3 long-range bombers from which three Kh-22 cruise missiles were launched.

Su-35 fighters also launched six Kh-59 and one Kh-31P missile.

“Anti-aircraft missile units, aviation, mobile AA firing groups of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other components of the Defense Forces are involved in repelling the air attack,” the Air Force Command said.

Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Ukraine said that as a result of a missile attack on Ukraine, the invaders targeted energy facilities in the Kyiv, Vinnytsia and Odesa regions.

“In some regions, emergency shutdowns are forced to balance the energy system and avoid accidents. Rescuers are already working to eliminate the consequences of the attack in order to return the light to each house,” Shmyhal said.

It is now known that two people were killed during the strike in the Zaporizhzhia region, and three others were injured including a kid.

Some houses in Odesa region were also hit, two people injured as a result.

Recall that on the morning of December 5, Russia reported an attack by an unknown drone on a strategic aviation air base in the city of Engels in the Saratov region. Two aircraft were damaged in the incident.

As a result of the second incident, a fuel truck exploded at the airfield in Ryazan, dead and injured reported.
