Black Sea Crimea Fleet Frigates Russian Navy UAV Ukraine War with Russia

A video from the cameras of unmanned surface vehicles featuring an attack on the vessels of the Russian Black Sea Fleet has been published for free access.

In the footage you can see an attack on the 11356R project Admiral Makarov frigate, which became the actual flagship of the fleet after the sinking of the Moskva missile cruiser.

Ukrainian authorities have not officially confirmed their participation in the organization of the operation.

According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, nine unmanned aerial vehicles and seven unmanned surface vehicles were involved in the attack.

The type of drone ships used to attack Russia’s fleet in Sevastopol was the same as the previous one spotted in September.

These strike drone ships managed to damage the Admiral Makarov frigate and the Ivan Golubets minesweeper.

The video also shows how an USVs is fired by Russian vessels, boats and even helicopters.

The damage caused to the ships still has to be assessed, since there are no photos of the consequences yet.

Russia acknowledged the defeat of warships in the harbor of Sevastopol and blamed Great Britain.

In turn, the British Ministry of Defense called the “false statement of the epic scale” of the accusation of Russia.

“In order to divert attention from its disastrous leadership of the illegal invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Ministry of Defense is resorting to false statements on an epic scale. This fictional story says more about disputes within the Russian government than about the west,” the British Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

Unmanned surface vehicle

Photos of an unknown type of naval drone near the Russian naval base in occupied Sevastopol appeared in September.

According to analysts, this drone ship has a warhead and is used to defeat surface targets.

These USVs could be created on the basis of a civilian jet ski of the Canadian company Sea-Doo.

Presumably, the USVs move with the help of pump-jet, which can accelerate it up to 110 km/h. And the power plant was probably the Rotax gasoline engine.

Detonators in the nose of the unmanned vehicle, according to analysts, are similar to those used in Soviet-era gravity bombs.

The size of the warhead is unknown, but it is assumed that it is located at the front of the vehicle.

A flat square-shaped object located on the top of the boat closer to its stern, is generally similar to the SpaceX Starlink satellite internet antenna. This part could be an antenna connected to a communication/data exchange system.

The hull, according to visual assessment, is made of aluminum.

The appearance of such USVs near Sevastopol may be one of the reasons for the low activity of the Black Sea Fleet in the waters outside the bay in recent weeks.
