Ukrainian forces found a downed Ka-52 helicopter in one of the combat areas.

The photo featuring the helicopter’s wreckage was released by the military on Telegram social media.

The location of the downed Russian aircraft has not yet been disclosed.

Previously, nothing was known about this loss of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

Presumably, the Ka-52 combat helicopter was hit by an anti-aircraft missile back in the summer and has only now been discovered.

However, on October 19, the command of the Ukrainian Air Force reported the loss of the Ka-52 by the Russians. The Command also clarified that the helicopter was shot down in the sky over the Kherson region.

It can’t be excluded that more wreckage of this helicopter, as well as the debris of other aircraft, can be found after the liberation of Ukrainian territories.

According to data gathered and confirmed by Oryx analysts, who study Russia’s losses in the war against Ukraine, Russia’s losses in Ka-52 are 23 units.

Ка-52

The Russian combat helicopter Ka-52 was developed from the Ka-50 helicopter. Tests of the Ka-52 helicopter ended in 2011.

The main advantage of the Ka-52 model is the ability to perform military functions around the clock, regardless of weather conditions. The helicopter is able to identify equipment from a considerable distance, broadcast the information obtained as a result of reconnaissance.

The crew of the attack helicopter is 2 people. The flight characteristics of the Ka-52 allow it to develop a speed of up to 300 km/h and reach a static ceiling of 4,000 m.

The armament of the Ka-52 consists of a 30-mm gun and six suspension points that can accommodate 23-mm guns or launchers with anti-tank guided missiles or unguided rockets.
