Ukrainian servicemen started their training in the UK

The first group of Ukrainian troops arrived in the United Kingdom and will soon begin their training.

Ben Wallace, British Secretary of State for Defence, announced this.

As stated on the British Parliament website, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be trained at the training grounds under the guidance of experienced British military instructors.

Secretary of State for Defence informed the House of Commons about the details of the training program of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under the leadership of the UK, which was announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson during his most recent visit to Kyiv.

In response to Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine, the UK Government is providing £2.3 billion of military aid to Ukraine.

This commitment includes leading a training program that aims to train Ukrainian military personnel in the United Kingdom.

Ben Wallace noted that the Ukrainian military will take courses based on basic UK military training.

“Our ambition is to increase the scale and frequency of these courses in line with Ukrainian requirements. We are also discussing with international partners options to broaden involvement in the training program, working constructively with countries prepared to support either by contributing trainers or providing equipment.” – says the Secretary of State for Defence.

This includes weapons training, battlefield first aid, fieldcraft, patrol tactics, and training on the armed conflict laws.

Each course will take several weeks.

The first rotation of Ukrainian soldiers has recently arrived in the UK. Training will be conducted at the military training grounds across the North East, South West, and South East regions. The training will be delivered by the units of the 11 Security Force Assistance Brigade.

In June, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson offered Volodymyr Zelensky a major training program for the Ukrainian servicemen in the United Kingdom. It was reported that the United Kingdom military could train up to 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers every 120 days.
