The Ukrainian military will soon begin mastering Challenger 2 tanks in the UK.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Britain Vadym Prystaiko, shared this on the live of Radio Liberty.

He notes that the training of the Ukrainian military should not take much time.

At the same time, according to him, training of the artillery crews is already ongoing.

“Tank crews are about to start training in the UK.

Ukrainian gunners are already training and tankers will come in the near future,” the Ambassador said.

According to Prystaiko, “it doesn’t take long.”

As British instructors note, the Ukrainian servicemen are highly motivated and trained very quickly.

“When we train infantry here (you know, we have already trained 10 thousand, and since the beginning of the new year we have started – another 20 thousand), it takes five weeks. It is difficult to say how long it takes to train tank crews – especially, these are gunners, mechanics, and commanders. I think in a month and a half. If necessary, the training will continue, as it was before,” the Ambassador noted.

Vadym Prystaiko also stressed that British tanks for the Armed Forces were already being prepared for departure to Ukraine.

It should be recalled that earlier the UK promised to transfer to Ukraine 14 Challenger 2 tanks and 155mm self-propelled howitzers.

In addition to tanks, the aid package will include Bulldog armored personnel carriers (APCs), a battery of 8 AS-90 155mm ACSs (self-propelled guns) [two more batteries will be provided later], dozens of drones, 100,000 ammunition, hundreds of missiles [GMLRS, Starstreak, AMRAAM], and spare parts for vehicles.
