Ukrainian troops push enemy back in Sievierodonetsk direction – Ministry of Defense

Ukrainian troops forced the enemy to withdraw from the villages of Metiolkine and Bilohorivka in the Sievierodonetsk direction.

This was announced at a daily briefing by the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense Oleksandr Motuzyanyk.

“In the Sievierodonetsk direction, Ukrainian troops thwarted Russian attempts to capture the villages of Metolkine and Bilohorivka. The enemy suffered losses and withdrew,” he said.

Motuzyanyk also noted that the invaders continue conducting assault operations in Sievierodonetsk.

“As of this morning (June 3 – Ed.), the enemy, with the support of aircraft, is conducting assault operations on Sievierodonetsk central residential areas. They are suffering casualties. Currently, active fighting continues,” he said.

The Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration Serhiy Haidai, announced that the information about invaders capturing the city is not true.

“Fierce battles are raging in Sievierodonetsk today. By the way, Kadyrov’s men reported they had captured the city. It is a lie, the city battle continues. Heavy battle, directly in the city of Sievierodonetsk,” Serhiy Haidai said.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces of Ukraine hold their positions and do not allow the invaders to push the Ukrainian servicemen out.

Oleksandr Motuzyanyk also said that in the Avdiivka direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repulsed the Russian attack in the direction of Krasnohorivka and pushed the enemy back to previous positions.

“In the Donetsk direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding back an offensive by a powerful group of Russian troops from 1st, 2nd Army Corps, 8th, 58th, and 5th Armies, 90th Guards Tank Division, and Airborne forces. That group is focused on trying to surround our troops in Sievierodonetsk and Lysychansk,” Motuzyanyk emphasized.

He also noted that the enemy command is trying to intensify sabotage work in the territory controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. To do this, the invaders are actively recruiting mercenaries from Donetsk and Luhansk regions who can speak Ukrainian.

Previously, the soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine destroyed Russian ammunition with artillery and eliminated several invaders in the Luhansk region.
