United States handed over to Ukraine 85 tons of combat ammunition to grenade launchers

Today, February 3, 2022, the United States handed over to Ukraine 85 tons of ammunition to 40-mm grenade launchers.

Oleksii Reznikov, the Defense Minister reported that on Twitter.

The cargo was delivered by plane, which became the seventh after the announced additional $200 mln defense aid to Ukraine.

On February 1, the previous sixth plane arrived in Ukraine with military assistance from the United States, carrying 84 tons of ammunition.

According to Oleksii Reznikov, Ukraine has received approximately 500 tons of defensive ammunition of various types from the United States in total.

The timeline of arrival of American military aid

The first shipment of aid arrived in Ukraine on the night of January 22. Moreover, included nearly 90 tons of lethal aid. Besides, for the first time, the new delivery included, except Javelin anti-tank missiles, SMAW-D multi-purpose grenade launchers.

On January 23, the second aircraft delivered to Ukraine 80 tons of ammunition and other defense aid from the United States.

On January 25, a third plane landed at Boryspil International Airport with 79 tons of defensive armament and ammunition, including 300 Javelin anti-tank missiles.

On January 28, a new batch of aid from the United States arrived in Ukraine. This time, 81 tons of ammunition were sent to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The fifth plane arrived on the night of January 31, was delivered 84 tons of ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

US President Biden signed off on the $200 million aid in December 2021.

In addition, the United States introduced a legislation on land-lease to protect democracy in Ukraine, which aims to simplify the provision of military assistance to Ukraine.
