Ukrainian pilots and technicians demonstrated and talked about training on F-16 fighter jets.

Intensive training for Ukrainians to master Western multi-role fighter jets is taking place in Denmark.

Ukrainian pilots train in different conditions: snow, rain or clear weather. One of the Ukrainian pilots with the call sign Moonfish says that “our combat experience is really hard to overestimate, but it is still a very short program.”

In his opinion, the greatest incentive for quality training is not combat experience, but the motivation of the military to return to Ukraine and continue fighting.

According to the pilot, “The F-16 is a superior aircraft from the pilot’s point of view. I don’t want to slander our MiGs, but the F-16 is definitely more maneuverable.”

“It seems that the airplane itself encourages you to fly it more aggressively,” says an Ukrainian pilot.

Ukrainian technicians in Denmark are also studying the structure and systems of the F-16 fighter jets.

“At first, this system seemed incomprehensible to us, but now I see that it greatly simplifies our work and saves time. It’s really worth moving forward,” says technician Ihor.

The day before, the Danish Ministry of Defense announced that the first Danish F-16 fighter jet would be delivered to Ukraine this summer.

Denmark began training eight Ukrainian pilots to fly F-16 fighter jets of the Royal Danish Air Force in August 2023. The training takes place at the air base in Skrydstrup, where the Danish Air Force’s fighter wing, consisting of the 727th and 730th squadrons, is stationed. Moreover, 65 personnel will be trained in maintaining and servicing the jets.

The delivery of the first fighter jets depends on whether Ukrainian pilots and support staff are fully trained, as well as whether the necessary logistics and infrastructure are in place.
