US allocates $567 million for Taiwan’s defense needs
The United States has allocated $567 million for Taiwan’s defense needs.
The relevant information was published on the official website of the White House.
This financial package will be aimed at strengthening Taiwan’s defense capabilities by purchasing various types of weapons from the United States.
Despite the large range of weapons, Taiwan depends on a critical part of the weapons it purchases from the United States.
As part of the program to modernize and upgrade its Armed Forces, the country expects the United States to provide it with M1A2T main battle tanks and Harpoon anti-ship missiles, which will strengthen its own stockpile of anti-ship missiles.
In addition, as part of the Taiwan’s submarine construction program, the country has received a modern combat information system from the United States and expects to receive 533mm torpedoes.
Financial assistance from the United States will allow all contracts to be implemented on time and ensure the country’s planned preparation for the defense of the island.
In addition, Taiwan has allocated a significant amount from its own budget to purchase more than 1,000 tactical strike missiles, both air-launched and ground-based.
An increase in the production of new HF-2E anti-ship missiles and UAVs is planned for 2025. Thanks to the increased production of new missiles, Taiwan’s Armed Forces will be able to quickly replace old missiles.
In addition, the Republic of China Navy has signed a contract with Jong Shyn Shipbuilding Group to build two types of new generation light frigates.
The Navy has ordered the construction of two 2,500-ton frigates of the ASW and AAW types, which are to be built in a series of 12 vessels in the future.
Militarnyi previously reported that the Republic of China had ordered 18 additional M142 HIMARS MRL. Due to these additional systems, the number of HIMARS purchased by the Republic of China increased to 29.
