U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken officially confirms that Ukraine is authorized to use U.S. weapons against military targets in Russia.

According to him, such a permit was approved by US President Joe Biden.

Radio Svoboda reported on this.

“Over the past few weeks, Ukraine came to us and asked for the authorization to use weapons that were provided to defend against this aggression, including against Russian forces that are massing on the Russian side of the border, and then attacking Ukraine. And that went right to the President, and as you’ve heard, he’s approved use of our weapons for that purpose,” Blinken said.

The Secretary of State said this during a press conference in Prague on May 31.

Previously, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi also said that he had received confirmation of permission to strike military targets inside Russian territory with American weapons.

According to him, he was informed about this by the Ukrainian military on the morning of May 31.

The President of Ukraine made this statement during a joint press conference in Stockholm in the framework of the third Ukraine-Northern Europe Summit.

“We had a message from the American side. Early this morning I received this message from my military. I cannot tell you the details. I want to see what will happen in practice. But the fact is that in any case, this is a step forward towards this goal that we discussed earlier, to enable us to protect our people who live in the settlements, near the border. And as of today, that’s all,” Zelenskyi said.

The day before, Western media reported that the Biden Administration had privately approved the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strikes on Russian territory using American weapons, but only near the Kharkiv region.

Also, the press secretary of the President of Ukraine, Serhii Nikiforov, told The Guardian that the United States had given Ukraine permission to carry out limited strikes within Russia using US weapons.
