The U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly backed the legislation on the land lease process and the defense of democracy in Ukraine.

The results of the vote were announced on Twitter by the U.S. House of Representatives.

This decision will allow to provide Ukraine weapons, ammunition and military equipment, and other critical supplies more efficiently.

The document is known as the Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act of 2022.

417 congressmen voted in favor of the measure, while ten voted against the document.

“The House of Representatives passed S. 3522 – Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act of 2022 by a vote of 417-10,” shared the statement of the House of Representatives.

The text of the document refers to appointing the President of the United States with expanded powers to transfer or lease the defense equipment to Ukraine to “protect civilians from Russian military invasion” and for other purposes.

It is worth noting that the document is de facto allowing the donation of equipment with terms that provide that the recipient countries will pay their value to the United States later.

Previously, Joe Biden submitted a new request to the U.S. Congress for approval of another aid package for Ukraine to assist its struggle against Russian aggression.

This package provides $33 billion to support Ukraine.

Among others, the funding request includes $20.4 billion of military assistance for Ukraine, $8.5 billion of economic aid, and $3 billion of humanitarian assistance, as well as funds for supporting food security measures.
