Volunteers to provide 100 Kropyva command and control systems to the Ukrainian military
Volunteers plan to purchase 100 Kropyva command and control systems (abbr. C2) for the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The fundraising campaign is carried out by volunteers from ARMY SOS.
Command and control (abbr. C2) systems help commanders see all the information that flows from the military tablets on the front line on the big screen.
“Thus, this makes it easier to make important decisions on the battlefield and manage units,” the volunteers say.
The Kropyva software is based on the “MAPA” program, which allows the unit to orient its actions on the ground and provides calculations and targeting.
The first MAPA program was installed on ARMY SOS tablets, but later it became obvious that a larger format was needed
This system allows combining reconnaissance, control and targeting for fire teams.
Currently, there are entire brigades that have combined reconnaissance, control units and artillery into a single command center on the basis of Kropyva.
Kropyva system provides:
- access to a digital map of the terrain with the display of its own GPS position;
- communication with other subscribers of the system. The data generally includes friendly unit positions, identified target coordinates, and short text messages;
- solving individual tasks, such as calculating the march, fire strike zones or artillery amendments;
- providing coordination and data transmission from reconnaissance means – UAVs, radar and artillery sound ranging systems – in automated mode.
“Thanks to Kropyva, the time from the moment the target is discovered to working out on it is several times reduced,” the volunteers said.
To work with the command and control system, you only need to know the coordinates of the target and the location of your artillery battery and the weather conditions. These data are entered into the tablet with Kropyva installed, and then the direction of firing and the distance to the target are calculated automatically.
Recall that the Defense Forces of Ukraine will also implement the Delta system. The corresponding resolution was adopted at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on February 4.
