Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that in the event of victory in Donbas, Ukraine would want to liberate all its territories that are occupied by Russia.

The Minister shared this with the Financial Times, Ukrainian Pravda reports.

However, he did not rule out having to negotiate peace with the Russian Federation.

“The picture of victory is an evolving concept. In the first months of the war, the victory was the withdrawal of the Russian forces to the positions they held before February 24 and their payment for inflicted damage.

Now if we are strong enough on the military front and win the battle for Donbas, which will be crucial for the following dynamics of the war, of course, our victory in this war would be the liberation of the rest of our territories,” Dmytro Kuleba said.

The Foreign Minister explained that only Russia’s military defeat would allow Ukraine to reopen its Black Sea ports and revive its export-based economy.

If the Armed Forces of Ukraine receives even more military support from the West, “we will be able to throw them (the invaders -Ed.) back from the Kherson region, to defeat the Black Sea fleet and unblock the passage.”

But he also acknowledged that the bloodshed could become too great and Ukraine might ultimately have to negotiate a settlement with Russia.

In that event, Kyiv would want to “approach the unavoidable moment with the strongest cards possible,” the Foreign Minister said.

The Minister hopes that the Western partners will continue their support of Ukraine and will provide the modern weapons to fight against the Russian invaders.

Kuleba is also confident that the allies will support Ukraine to the end, including pushing Russia out of Donbas and the occupied Crimea, as it was Moscow’s aggression that gave the West a new sense of purpose.

Previously, U.S. President Joe Biden signed the Lend-Lease Act for Ukraine. The document will accelerate the transfer of weapons, equipment, and other critical supplies to Ukraine by reducing the bureaucratic processes.
