In the Zaporizhzhia region, not far from occupied Melitopol, military counterintelligence officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) destroyed a Russian Nebo-SVU radar.

Journalist Mykhailo Tkach posted the video of the destruction on his Telegram channel.

The Russian radar was detected with the help of the Shark unmanned aerial vehicle.

The journalist raised money for this system together with the NGO BON.

“The Shark drone flew over 70 kilometers and basically adjusted the missile near the object so that the warhead hit the target,” the journalist shared on the detection of the Russian radar.

According to Mykhailo Tkach, the radar was hit with an M30A1 round fired from a HIMARS rocket system:

The CyberBoroshno Telegram channel has already identified the exact geolocation near the village of Kalynivka in the Zaporizhzhia region at coordinates 46.909139, 35.754751:

This is not the first time that Nebo radars have been hit. In May, Militarnyi reported on the destruction of Nebo-M near Luhansk, and in November 2023, on the destruction of the 55Zh6 Nebo radar in the Kursk region by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine. In another case, soldiers of the SSU’s Special Group “Alpha” hit a Russian surveillance Nebo-U radar in September 2023. These are just the latest documented cases known to the public.

The Nebo family of radars is designed to detect, locate, and track air targets of various classes: aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, and other small and stealthy aircraft at long ranges and altitudes.

The Nebo family of radars was launched back in the Soviet Union and further developed by the Russian military industry.
