Ukraine’s defense industry has made progress in developing Ukrainian-made missiles.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky shared that the missile program has good dynamics.

Before this statement, he held a meeting where he listened to the reports of Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi and Chief of the General Staff Anatoliy Barhylevych.

“Our task is to ensure the constant effective defeat of Russian troops, their logistics, their significant positions not only on the front line but also in all available depths by all methods and with all our strength,” the President said.

According to Zelensky, while Ukraine is waiting for its partners’ decisions, the Ukrainian authorities are seeking their own solutions and options.

The participants also discussed Ukraine’s missile program.

“Our missile program has good dynamics, and although it is a difficult task, we are gradually approaching the possibility of using our own missiles, and not just relying on supplies from partners. Ukraine should eventually reach maximum defense independence,” Zelensky said.

Missile program

Prior to the full-scale invasion, various missile programs were being developed and improved in Ukraine.

The R-360 Neptune anti-ship cruise missile, which is now hitting Russian facilities, was a successful project.

The Ukrainian defense industry also had promising projects for the Korshun-2 cruise missile and the Coral anti-aircraft guided missile.

Ukraine was developing the Grom-2 operational and tactical missile system to engage single and group stationary targets at ranges from 50 to 280 km.

In 2022, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was to be given the opportunity to work on the creation of a national missile shield. First of all, it was about resuming work on the Sapsan operational and tactical system.
