PzH 2000 ACS were added to the arsenal of the Armed Forces artillery – Minister of Defense
The Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers are now part of the artillery arsenal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Oleksiy Reznikov, Minister of Defense of Ukraine announced this.
According to him, this has become the sixth type of Western 155 mm artillery system in service with the Armed Forces. Towed M777 and FH70 howitzers, CAESAR, M109, and Krab ACSs are already at the frontline of war with the Russians.
Reznikov made comments on obtaining the latest-type weapons:
“As always, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, uses them 100% effectively on the battlefield. Of course, special huge gratitude goes to our artillerymen who are already global legends. I also want to thank the German partners for the support, which we are expecting to increase. I appreciate the efforts of Christine Lambrecht, German Defense Minister, my colleague.”
In general, Ukraine is expected to have a full-fledged PzH 2000 division of 12 units. 7 of them would be transferred by Germany, and another 5 – from the Netherlands.
Panzerhaubitze 2000 is a German self-propelled artillery howitzer with an automatic loading system and a high level of automation of all systems. It is developed on the basis of the Leopard-2 tank.
For firing, the NATO countries’ armies are using separate-loading rounds. It is equipped with a muzzle brake and an ejector. The gun barrel with a rifled channel has a length of 52 calibers and is equipped with a charging chamber. The vehicle carries 60 artillery shells and 228 propellants on board. The range of firing standard ammunition is 30 km.
