The 154th Mechanized Brigade was armed with M1117 armored security vehicles
Soldiers from the 154th Mechanized Brigade were armed with American M1117 armored security vehicles.
The video of the exercise was published on the official page of the 154th Mechanized Brigade.
The new armored security vehicles provided by the United States were used by the military to practice assault operations.
In addition, some of them were equipped with so-called “grills” to increase the survivability of the combat vehicle against FPV drones.
The armored security vehicle was originally designed to conduct patrols in various conditions and is equipped with a M2 Browning 12.7mm machine gun and a Mk.19 40mm grenade launcher.
The armament is housed in a turret with one crew member who operated a 40mm grenade launcher and a 12.7mm machine gun.
The armor of the vehicle consists of a directly armored hull, as well as additional ceramic protection modules developed by IBD Deisenroth Engineering.
The modules are designed to increase the body’s resistance to hits from bullets of 5.56mm and 7.62mm caliber, which ensures a high level of survivability.
Last November, the U.S. Department of Defense announced $400 million in additional security assistance for Ukraine is allocated under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.
Funding is also earmarked to refurbish 250 M1117 armored security vehicles and for the maintenance and sustainment of already transferred equipment.
Militarnyi previously reported that M1117 armored security vehicles had been first spotted in the Ukrainian Armed Forces in March 2024.
The vehicles of this type were shown by the press service of the 425th Assault Battalion Skala.
